The Earthly Life and Ministry of Jesus Christ

This book is the merging of all the events and teachings of Jesus Christ as recorded in the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John – without duplications, but leaving nothing out.  The events are written in chronological order (in the order in which they happened).  It is offered to Christ-followers, who sincerely desire to know the Lord better from day to day, and make Him known to others.  The serious reader of the “Life of Christ” will experience a growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ and God, His Father.  The book has ten chapters.

Chapter 1 includes the events leading to His birth, His infancy, and His boyhood.

Chapter 2 is the account of Jesus’ early ministry starting after He was baptized by John the Baptist in the Jordan River; tempted by Satan in the wilderness of Judaea, and began to choose men to be His disciples.

Chapter 3 tells us of the first year of His ministry in Galilee, which is known by Bible scholars as the “Year of Popularity”.  His famous “Sermon on the Mount” occurred early that year, and many of His teachings and miracles caused multitudes of people to follow Him.

Chapter 4 contains many events of His second year of ministry in Galilee, generally known as the “Year of Opposition”.  The religious leaders of the Jewish people started to see Jesus as a threat to their way of life, and began persecuting Him and planning His death.  The two main reasons they wanted to kill Him were that He healed people on the Sabbath day, and He said that God was His Father.

Chapter 5 is called the “Year of Disclosure” because that is when Jesus more clearly related to some of His disciples, who He really is; the Son of God.  In this chapter He declared Himself to be the Bread of Life, and the Light of the World, and His Father, God Almighty, proclaimed from Heaven on the “Mount of Transfiguration” that He is His only begotten Son, and commanded that we listen to Him.  About that time Jesus began to tell His disciples of His coming crucifixion and resurrection, but they were in a quandary as to what He was saying.

Chapter 6 begins the second half of this book and contains the details of the events of the rest of the life, death, resurrection, and ascension of Christ, which occurred in less than six months.  It tells of Jesus’ determination to head toward Jerusalem, where He would be the “sacrificial lamb” offered by God for the redemption of mankind from sin and destruction.  The Lord Jesus spent the bulk of His time in Galilee, and less than ten percent of His time in Judaea and Jerusalem.

Chapter 7 recounts the last seven days of His activities in and around Jerusalem, including His triumphant entrance into Jerusalem, as the rightful King of Israel.  He cleansed the Temple in Jerusalem a second time, and confronted the ungodly religious leaders, healed people, and taught the people and His disciples about many coming events.

Chapter 8 is about the Passover meal in an upper room with His Twelve Apostles, during which He shared Himself with them as intimately as He could, washed their feet, and gave them very important instructions concerning His will and the will of God, His Father.  As they left the upper room to go to Gethsemane, He prayed to the Father, the most inclusive prayer of His ministry, that His disciples and all who would believe on Him through their ministries would be “one with Him and His Father”.

In the garden of Gethsemane, He prayed for the will of God to be done, and He submitted to His arrest, trial, and crucifixion for the redemption of mankind from sin and destruction.  He was then buried and the chapter ends.  A thorough study of this chapter will greatly help the reader to experience an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ and God the Father.

Chapter 9 records the details surrounding His resurrection, and the important events that cleared up a lot of the quandary of His disciples.  He spent forty days teaching them about the Kingdom of God, and appeared to them both in Jerusalem and in Galilee where He gave them the “great commandment” to preach the gospel of God’s Kingdom to every person on earth, and to make disciples of all nations.

Chapter 10 concludes the book with Jesus sharing with His disciples about their coming baptism in the Holy Ghost, which would equip them with the authority to be His witnesses in all the earth, starting in Jerusalem.  He then ascended into Heaven, and after ten days, during the feast of Pentecost, He sent the Holy Ghost to them, and they began preaching the Word of God everywhere, the Lord working with them.
